“Dumb Luck” or “Besheirt”? Not receiving any sorority invites in grade 9, I became an active member of a Jewish youth group, receiving valuable leadership training, which later turned into a 25 year long career as a Synagogue youth director, impacting hundreds of teens and leading to lifelong friendships. “Besheirt” or “Dumb Luck”?

My fall semester begins today. This afternoon I’ll meet my New School class, all first-timers with me. Tomorrow my home group resumes. I’ve been working with all–except for one–for years.
